I spent yesterday at the Boston Hyatt learing about Accountability in Management "The OZ Principle" I have to say the instructor was engaging and I was drinking the cool aid by lunch. Now to apply the techniques in my non perfect world will be the challenge. I reminded me of the days when I taught. I loved my job back then and I think now it was because of all the interesting and intelligent people I would meet. Yesterday was filled with breakout sessions so I got to meet a lot of folks and hear a lot of interesting perspectives. I was feeling better and empowered about my position when I left so I guess the seminar was successful. I am going to try to read the book this weekend.
Tonight C and are babysitting for our friends little boys. They are 5 and 3 and I love them to pieces. We help our friends out a few times a year and test the waters for when we will have our own. I am always pooped when I go home. C has the first shift solo because I will be working in Waltham until 4. We'll see how he is holding up once I get there in the evening.
Friday night I have plans with a group of friends to grab apps and drinks at either a place called Sorrentos or The Alamo. Both places are somewhere out on 495 in the Milford\Franklin\Bellingham area (not sure yet). The hidden purpose of this outing is to fix one of my friend's up with a friend of a friend of a friend...ok enough that is a bit ridiculous. It is a fixup to see if they mesh. C thinks the guy is a meathead because he was giving a pro-steroids speech over the summer at a BBQ. I left that little tidbit out on both sides, no need to hurt anyone's feelings.
In other news BB9 is explosive this season. I am not sure if anyone else watches. I never did until three years ago when some of C's friends made a contest out of it. The most annoying decietful biatch got voted off last night. I sincerely hope her boyfriend (also on the show) kicks her obnoxious arse to the curb when he sees what she was saying about him behind his back. Crap comments like that (if they are not true) can really damage a person. I know she was lobbying to keep herself in the house but did she forget that America was watching and now a vast majority think her bf is racist. Then she denied it....hmmm rollback scene please...
That is all I got right now

Weekend Recap
Well thank god for long weekends. I decided this weekend was going to be my surprise the hubby weekend by finally painting our bedroom which is just what I did. He was snowmobiling up in Vermont so this was the perfect opportunity.
Friday Night: My sis came over and we headed out to Home Depot to secure paint and supplies for the project. We then popped over to the Longhorn for some dinner and cocktails. We both had stressful weeks although her more than me so we drank some yummy Dynamite Cab, I highly recommend it.
Saturday: Up early for spinning and then out for a long walk with the doggies. It was my attempt to poop them out so they would behave while I painted. We started painting and kept on moving. All of the walls with the exception of the accent were no longer yucky yellow. It reminded me of "The Yellow Wallpaper" from college. Perkins describes my bedroom color perfectly:
The previous owners had painted over watch plaid walpaper, first light blue for their son and then a grotesque shade of yellow (and I generally love yellow)in an attempt to neutralize for the sale. The walls are now a lovely shade of Ralph Lauren parchment. The accent wall which is actually an encased chimeny is now a dark chocolate brown, aka Ralph Lauren Artist Brown.
You see it took me a very long time to decide on what I would decorate this bedroom in. I have always wanted a spa-like zen bedroom with shades of aqua, light blue and so forth. But what I have is a Chalet style Cape with 18" celings in the bedrooms. The ceilings are tongue and groove wood in a cherry\oak color with rather large dark cross beams, think cabin. My spa look really didn't fit with the rustic wood in this room, but my tastes are not really rustic which presents my issue. I have decided on a masculine color pallet of slate blue, beige and chocolate brown. I think I really like it now that it is done. I am going to post some pictures on my flickr site soon and ask for opinions. It is definitely not a light bright room, but I think it feels warm and cozy. We'll see what you gals think.
Saturday Night: I painted the first coat on the accent wall and hopped in the shower. I had a hot date with one of my girlfriend's. We hit up Ruth Chris for some wine and dinner. That place is fantastic. If you ever have a chance to go do it!!
Sunday: I finished up paiting and headed out to pick up some accesories for the new room. I came home with a painting I fell in love with from Home Goods. I hung it over the unsightly wall airconditioner unit in our bedroom. I also secured new lamps and shades, placemats for the top of our nightstands, a large round mirror and a iron accent piece for the peak. I spent the remainder of Sunday spread out on the bed with my dogs, water, a book and HGTV playing in the background admiring my handiwork. It was perfect.
Hubby came home and loved the new set up. We spent Monday hanging around, going to the gym and grocery shopping.
Today back to work. My internet connect was down from 7:30am to 10:30am, hell on earth for me.

"The color is repellent, almost revolting; a smouldering unclean
yellow, strangely faded by the slow-turning sunlight. It is a dull yet
lurid orange in some places, a sickly sulphur tint in others."

Happy V Day ((Long))
Happy Heart Day fellow bloggers.
I am currently sipping a mocha nut fudge coffee attempting to soothe my nerves. I was driving to work trying to remember about Valentines Days past to post about when I almost got into an accident. I hate that feeling because then for the rest of the commute your nerves are frazzled. I heard traffic was bad my normal route so I decided to take a cut through road to route 1. It is a very windy road with lots of conservation land, a beautiful farm and a bird sanctuary. Well apparently it was also a bit icy. I came over a hill slowly and saw that two fellow motorists had been in separate accidents. One car was up a hill the other off the road into a large rock. The car in front of me slowed and so did I and that is when I started to slide. I turned my car into the snowy side of the road barely missing the car in front of me and the one already crash into a rock. I asked the woman if she was ok and if she needed me to call anyone. She was fine and police were on their way so I slowly made my way out to route 1 and then onto miserable 128 to work. I blame a large percentage of the reason why I don't blog as often on terrible traffic. It is killing my mood almost daily.
Back to my previously scheduled post....Valentines Days of Old.
When I was a child my dad would go to the local candy shop and buy my sister and I each a chocolate heart-shaped lollipop, one milk chocolate and one white chocolate. He would buy my mom a box of white almond bark and some penuche fudge. It was a tradition until I got into highschool. This will be my first valentine's day without my dad. I had intended to head over to the same candy shop to buy something for my mom but schedules have not allowed. I sent her flowers instead.
When I was in grade school giving out Valentine’s Day cards was the tradition. We would be sent home with a class list. My mom would buy boxes of valentine's and I would write one out for each student in my class. On the day we would deliver our notes to construction paper made mailboxes on each desk. I remember that in 4th of 5th grade a certain popular girl only gave out valentines to people she "liked" and not the whole class. I had always thought it was sort of the rule that everyone got one so although she had given one to me I asked her why not everyone else. She said "because I don't have to if I don't want to"...Well let me tell you this girl went on to become one of the more popular girls in my graduating class and became more of a bitch with each passing year.
In Junior high we got to send chocolate lollipops for some fundraiser around to our friends. My girlfriends and I sent them to each other. My freshmen year a guy named Kevin sent me one. It was my first an only highschool lollipop from a male. We became very close friends for the rest of highschool. The week of my 17th birthday (my senior year) I had been complaining all week that my boyfriend was blowing off my birthday to go to a Van Halen concert. Kevin showed up at my house after school the day of my birthday with a dozen of the most beautiful roses I have ever received. He was a really sweet guy and a good friend.
In highschool Valentine's Day meant roses being sent around either by a secret admirer or by your friends. The choices were pink or red and they were delivered during home room on the 14th. All the girls and guys would walk around all day with their bunches conspicuously sticking out of their book bags in plain sight for everyone to see how popular they were. Most people I know sent them to themselves…. It is pretty funny to think back on it.
When I was in my 20's and teaching a fellow instructor and I became really good friends. He was like a pimp among our company but I was taken so we were just good buds. I would get to hear about all his adventures in dating and believe me when you date women who work together it is an adventure. I remember him telling me that he planned to buy an extra Valentine’s Day card for his lady of the moment to save and give to her in July. Because in his opinion what is more thoughtful than giving a Valentine’s Day card when it is unexpected. Well I thought wow that is a really clever idea until I found out he purchased a bunch of the "same" cards and gave them to different women all with the same sentiment written in them. I can only shake my head at this memory......
As for all the other valentine's days I do not have really any major memories. Last year my then soon to be husband surprised me a couple of days beforehand by cooking a fantastic fancy dinner complete with music and candlelight. It was a great Valentine’s Day surprise before hand :)
This year was the first I could by a "For My Husband" card. I left it for him with a burned copy of the Ben Folds song "The Luckiest" as it says all I would in its Lyrics. I hope he likes it. I think we are going to grab a low key dinner and then hit up "Definitely Maybe" because that was my request.
Anyone else have good plans??

Monday Again??
Where does all the time go? I can't believe it is Monday again and shall I say it is Hella Cold outside!! I got up for spinning this morning and I swear to god cold leg stubble appeared on my legs instantaneously when I stepped outside.
Friday was my friend's wedding at Lakeview Pavillion. She looked wonderful and we had a great time. We cut a rug or two on the dance floor. My hubby made up this new slide move to play that funky music white boy (how fitting). I am putting the pictures up on my Flickr site. If you don't have the address I would be happy to send it to you if you email me at bosnakedbootleg At Gmail dot com.
I got some sad news on Saturday that one of my very good friends who was a bridesmaid in my wedding lost her baby. She was 5 months and 1 week pregnant. It was devastating to hear. My heart is broken for her and her husband. It is really sad because my best friend is with child also and I am the only one who knows. She isn't up to the safety mark when she can start telling everyone. We had lunch on Saturday and discussed our friend's loss and now she is afraid herself to tell people. I mean 5 months is halfway there, it is just too shocking. In other baby news we have friends that are set to deliver today and other friends who found out this past Friday that they are having a little boy in early June. The baby blitz is on, not for us though we are waiting another year to start trying (at minimum).
Well that is about it for me. I started day 1 of healthy eating today. I have really let myself slide since the fall. I am back up a clothes size and it is rather depressing and isnt' the winter depressing enough to add a fat roll or two?
I got the greenlight from the hubby that we can move on to project remodel ghetto bathroom 2008. We live in a small house and our main floor bathroom is also the bathroom that we use to get ready, no master suite with gigantic bathroom for this lady. I cannot wait to rip down the crayolla flesh color crayon tile that covers almost every verticle surface in that bathroom. I just need to be creative and find a way dial down my designer taste and get my vision of Spa Serenety to fit our budget, that will be harder said than done.

Wink
Woke up this morning to find the puppy with crusted over eye. I know kinda gross, try seeing that minutes after waking up at 4:30 this morning. I cleaned him off but something is definitely wrong. He was too cute looking up at me half winking, poor little guy. The hubby is taking him to the vet when they open to have a looksy.
I have a serious case of the winter blahs that I am trying to shake. I think planning mini vacation may in fact do the trick. I also, need a home improvement project to kick start the fires. Our bedroom which had been sorely neglected since we purchased our house has been shaping up with the new bed and linens but it is not pulled together yet. I think I may paint it soon. Since we were able to pay off the last of our nuptual expenses with our taxes we are now able to get back to some of the house projects we have been holding off on.

MIserable Monday.
All I can say is wow. This is the second year in a row I have watched the Patriots play an important game at our friend's house and the second year they have lost. I think their house may very well have a black cloud above it. I think my husband will be in an utter state of depression for the next week. He is claiming to swear off sports radio for two months. I don't believe it for a second.
Boy do I really need to reel in the eating. I have been a bit out of control lately and my jeans are telling the story. Yikes!! Back to the land of healthy eating, especially if I am making a trip out to California to visit friends this spring. It is so easy to fall off the wago and so very hard to get back on.
My friend's wedding is this Friday night. I am really looking forward to it. Other than that not much else to report at the moment. Here's hoping this Monday cruises by....
